Have fun reading!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.comBlogger35125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-56540548633040810032011-06-29T17:03:00.000-07:002011-06-29T17:38:22.065-07:00Just Checkin In! :DHi guys! So I know I don't post regularly, not even monthly, anymore. But, well, it is summer, and as anyone who remembers their high school summer days, they can sometimes be a bit boring. So I thought I'd check in, since I got some REALLY nice & positive feedback from my last "Goodbye Dance" post. I wanted to just respond to that and check in.

One follower & blogger friend's comment was:

Will you still write about day to day life, though. I mean, there are millions of blogs out there about ballet, but how many are out there about 'what happens after you've quitted ballet and your new career?'

Good point Izi, good point! (She has a really awesome blog BTW you guys should check it out she's listed in my followers)

So here's a little recap of my life so far without ballet :P
This last semester of the school year has been SUPER busy because of midterms and finals. I had 6 finals, in 2 days!! It was really intense, and if I'd been dancing through all of that, there's no way I would have passed any or all my classes. So, it turned out it was for the best. Also, I haven't been completely hobby-less. I have been trying to experiment with new arts and sports, see what I'm good at but doesn't require me to be a prodigy in order to be successful. Ever since I was a little kid, I've ridden horses on an average of about once a week (sometimes only once a month though) in the school year, and quite frequently in the summer. So it is a big hobby of mine, and always has been. 2 years ago, the owner of my local barn invited me to be on her equestrian team (it had just started it) but I rarely had time to compete or contribute because of dance. Now she has set team requirements that must be met to stay on (you must attend a certain amount of meetings, lessons, and competitions) so I've got to focus on that as well. I have also taken an interest in photography and drawing, so I guess I shall see where life takes me!!

Anyway, that's the 411! (Remember when people actually said that? LOL) If you actually read that whole mini-life story of mine, well, THANKS! Because that means a lot to me and I know it probably wasn't all that interesting. In fact, it was extremely UNinteresting. Oh well. Thanks again guys, I'll check in from time to time or talk when there is big news!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-91727151670027716672011-05-03T15:40:00.000-07:002011-05-03T15:56:38.371-07:00The End of an EraLong time no post... well, I am afraid, this one is going to a be a bit bittersweet. It will likely be my last dancing post. Upon so much thought and intense consideration and a never-ending road to self discovery, I have made the decision not to pursue dance as a career.

I figure I owe you guys an explanation. It was a lot of things. Part of it was school, academics always come first for me, and at a certain point it got to be an overbearing load. And part of it was reality. It simply settled in, I guess. I started at 12, on the brink of 13, and made mountains of progress for the amount of time I'd been doing it. I was already better than a lot of girls in my class. But, see, that's just it. Here, the phrase, "for the amount of time I've been doing it" simply ruins the point of the statement. Because, when a director or judge at a company audition is looking at you, he is not going to say, "Well, cut 'em some slack, they've had 7 years less time than these girls". No, they are going to scrutinize you just the same way, and they should, because that is just the name of the game.

I know I sound quite pessimistic, but believe me, I DO believe that if one is truly dedicated and LOVES and ENJOYS every moment of it in the purest way possible, one should stick to it no matter what. I quit because it wasn't quite right for ME, because I got to a point where lugging my stuff to the studio was no longer something I looked forward to, where I felt that the pure joy of dance was enough to sustain me, I just didn't need all this pressure. I also had so many other things in my life that I wanted to explore and pursue, that I would have missed out greatly on.

So, I just wanted to tell you guys. And I'm so sorry! I actually quit in February, but I couldn't bring myself to post this until now, it just made me too sad. What finally brought me to the keyboard, you ask?
Well, today, I got a call from a number I didn't recognize, since I'd recently gotten a new phone. I answered anyone. And on the phone were a bunch of girls from my old dance studio, asking where I'd been and telling me how much they missed me! This was kind of a shock for me, because I went to an extremely competitive place where no one even put much interest in anyone else, I'd had no idea any of them even cared enough to call. But, it turns out, they did, and that really touched me in a profound way. I'd never explained why I left, never looked back, just was *poof--gone*. So, I guess I just felt it was time I gave you guys an explanation, and said, Fairwell!

(P.S. I know this was cheesy and it may have been due to the fact that while writing this I was listening to Erin McCarley's Pitterpat, which tends to make me emotional, but I just wanted to say sorry and goodbye!)ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-23366062368949991952011-01-16T18:16:00.000-08:002011-01-16T18:28:43.998-08:00Audition tomorrow!Yep, another one. I know I did horribly on the last one, (last week), but shockingly my confidence has soared since then. I've had a lot of inspirational talks with some amazing people and I am ready to do it again. Some of these people have been bloggers. Thank you, Nichelle! (DA). With every pointe class I feel I am improving, and even if I don't make it this year, I will next year. So for those of you with auditions coming up, hold your head high, and dance for YOU. Because YOU love to MOVE. Not so some judge can write a rating in a box.

:)

One song that I know you all know sent me a powerful message. Believe it or not, it's 'No One' by Alicia Keys. For me, the thing that I'll love, no matter what someone says, is not a man, but it's dance :P

Happy Dancing!!!
xBest Wishes

What's your latest inspiration?

Have any auditions you're preparing for?
P.S. Sorry I missed the Weekly One this & last week, its been hard to find the perfect product (believe me I've scoured the net!) and things have been crazy busyChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-44055819465570060812011-01-14T16:05:00.000-08:002011-01-14T17:02:19.346-08:00In My Pointe BagSo today I decided I'd share with you guys what is in my personal pointe shoe bag, just for fun! I realized just what an impact starting late can have. I know I have accomplished a lot, but sometimes I wonder if it's enough to make it as a pro. I started at 13, was en pointe at one of America's most prestigious academies within a year, (I started 3 weeks ago, I'm 14 now). But I am still extremely behind, a fact that I tried to deny until my last audition. I console myself with the fact that I have come extremely far for a year, but is it far enough? No matter what, there's no way I'm giving up. I love it just way too much. So what exactly happened at this audition? Well, it was for pretty much THE most prestigious academies in the world, or their summer intensive at least. The Bolshoi. I was doing wonderufully until the teacher called those 6 words: "Put on your pointe shoes now". He had us attempting fuoettes, pirouettes, pique turns, and so much more. Not only was I too terrified to even do what I do know how to do (echappes, SLOW pique turns, not 30 in a row, etc.), but I simply didn't know how to do much of it. I fell off pointe multiple times. It was just embarresing. By the end I was in tears.

:( (My computer isn't letting me put pics up. Urgh.)

But, while I was threatening to quit everything I love (a.k.a. ballet), my mom said, "Well, how badly do you want this?" I knew the answer. I knew it in every particle of my body. I want it. I want ballet to be my life. At that moment I realized quitting was not an option. Thank you, Mom. <3

Have you ever had a really bad audition?

How did you cope?

xBest Wishes!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-88364259329860953672011-01-08T11:30:00.000-08:002011-01-08T11:43:39.150-08:00Double Audition Weekend!!Hey guys! So I just got back from a callback audition for a full-time dance school. I don't think it went all the well... I was just nervous, and even after I tackled the nerves, I screwed up. I tried though. Guess that's all you can do is try. I wont know for sure though whether I did or didn't get in until February, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed! And I'll definitely tell you guys the results as soon as they come!

Later, I have a pointe class and then tomorrow I have an audition for a really prestigious summer intensive, ahh... unfortunately I can't say what it is on here:(. I've been trying to figure out whether the audition is on pointe or not, but it doesn't say anywhere on the site. I guess I'll just come prepared for both! Wish me luck!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 118px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzfThgdvoyEjS8yLolMmXuq4Y-QKIlESFYuRzHk0hoTbMkgFxlCU_sAzExgA5Yo_B2mXmrYll7WOHocz5eLu6dCpw13FtEwnqmqb4erip0tMCkG7BzqPBl7lhyphenhyphenrn1JTN5u7Fn9Lm0YwPY/s200/BolshoiClass427WEb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559902512061012882" />

Are you auditioning for any Summer Intensives?

Do you have any tricks/good-luck things you do before an audition?ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-41970794368657116342011-01-02T16:18:00.000-08:002011-01-02T16:29:35.194-08:00The Weekly One: The Pure Barre WorkoutThe Problem: If you're a dancer, chances are you've tried to sculpt and tone your muscles, but without adding bulk, but to no avail. It's hard to get lean limbs and a slim body, and it's even harder to get a STRONG lean body. But fret no more! I really hope I can get it fixed. In the meantime, I just wanted to say I have a really cool article coming for you guys about a dream I had the other night that gave me a huge epiphany/realization. Stay tuned to see what it is!

Also, is there a way, without using rosin, to make your shoes/platforms less slippery?

Bye for now! I am also about to post a Weekly One! (check site for post)ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-52475467963949144632010-12-29T13:51:00.000-08:002010-12-29T14:07:25.882-08:00A Really Awesome Ballet Class!Wow. Just... wow. So the usual place where I dance is closed for holiday break, and being that I have a callback just after break, I've been taking various open classes at nearby studios. Today, it was my second time at this really amazing studio. I was taking the Adv. Beg. Ballet class, taught by one of the most incredible teachers I have ever had. I wish I could take her class 24/7. It was difficult, fun, challenging, vigorous, and I never wanted it to end. The teacher was strict but fun at the same time, and I felt so many muscles working that weren't always worked in other classes.

When the class ended, I started to leave and say goodbye. I saw a lot of people filing in for her next class, a pointe class. I asked her what level, and she said it was open level. Then she asked me to take it! But I did not have pointe shoes or money for another class. She said it was no matter, I could take it for free on demi pointe. This made me super happy because I felt accepted and like maybe she saw potential or something, I don't know. So anyway, now I will be going back there every Saturday for her pointe class. I will probably still take pointe at my other studio, however I don't know if my technique teacher knows I take pointe and she might not want me to, which I certainly hope isn't the case. In the past she hadn't, even when all my other teachers did. Oh well, that's a whole other story.

Anyway, just checking in to say hey!

Do you have one teacher/class you just love?

Do you have one you hate?

Don't be afraid to share the juicy deets lol!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-68367535521338957922010-12-27T04:54:00.000-08:002010-12-27T05:13:17.729-08:00It's Snowing!!Just a quick post today, I've been uber busy preparing for my callback and of course with all the holiday cheer!

I just wanted to say, Happy Holidays! Legwarmers are typically around $20, plus shorts which are around $15, plus and overwrap sweater, that's another $20-30. Not only does it cost a lot to keep everything warm, but all that takes up a lot of room in your bag! And, these can often come in scratchy, itchy fabrics.

The Solution: Sansha's Warm-up Fleece Sac is a wonderfully soft, inexpesive, all-in-one way to keep those muscles warm! This is absolutely one of my favorite finds! It's also a perfect gift for any dancer because the sizing and style doesn't need to be as specific as shoes or leotards, plus its actually useful!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 186px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjceokpaYSz9G8Ox1QEM7EPMzQhNlRcOqSvihsY_arDoi75y3gQguyTpxnaHZIDKZNL-d_8MrGOWjYFTQ71-_IWKCjWjnjOXuQg8QPO4iVDz9GZStMC0AT1WIGfwMz4a2q5j3QIRVbapXw/s200/ef04f%255B2%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5552475509766270322" />ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-26702759318001806452010-12-16T18:38:00.000-08:002010-12-16T18:55:30.231-08:001st Pointe Class!!Hey guys! SO, guess what?!?!?! My pointe teacher told me to try it sine I had my shoes with me, and I did! A whole hour en pointe! This is a lot for a first time pointe-goer, but it was fun, and the teacher deemed it safe so I can't complain! My feet are certainly tired, but not as dead as I'd expected.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiv2TlWFL1Q209F2ZYnWv-4Yp8cT2bXdvyYitQaFfwdQ8I1zsQQyh3WmYMTcf60hzLm5L2lTdXSEayDlSU6dCGu92y7lSqOgiLSP2k2s1WKrivJkUzGkpWYjAEaGa17CkDZNE7pdbqk6E/s200/train-feet-point-ballet-200X200%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551476431790622050" />

I don't think I did very well especially compared to the others who'd been en pointe for months, and on the jumps en pointe, but I'm working on it. It was also hard because I guess my shoes just weren't right. My teacher said the shoes were way too wide for my feet (they were, as my feet are fairly narrow/normal and the guy had given me a 5X). She also said I needed a Medium shank, as I broke the Soft in just one class! (I don't think the hand-breaking helped).
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 86px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggxEpJNws8YZzFVme4pA6yN3XLstPdhx9bYvZsvCA1QewkT_6vRF_whnlfYLSLEp2T1z6QBEtlcrQxaHL_N2_8AOyT7on95pyi-PWnQP1jCyNs_BD63cVTO-KZuBAHbkWc7RXYt_EV_M0/s200/image007%255B1%255D.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551478899487951714" />

So this brings me to my final questions...

Do you have any specific pointe shoes brands that you know areof good price and quality (preferably not over $90)?

Any advice on fitting pointe shoes?

Do you remember what brand your first pair were?ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-50760195568452719842010-12-15T15:58:00.001-08:002010-12-15T16:04:19.046-08:00I got a callback!!! :DI'm so excited you guys! My pointe teacher told me even though I was ready I had to ask my technique teacher to make sure (who wants the whole level to start at the same time) and since she is away this week, and we have a break for the next 2 weeks, that is not possible. So, I guess until then I can't take pointe here.

However, I have an audition for the SAB Summer Intensive in but a month (talk more about this when it comes closer) and I need to be ready, as the audition takes place en pointe.

I have decided, since my pointe teacher says I'm ready, even though I can't yet take classes there, I am going to take open classes at another nearby studio. Now, I know this isn't advised, and normally I would just be patient and wait till we come back from break, but given the circumstances, I have come to my concensus.

What do you think?

This isn't a bad decision, is it?ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-61159873127169642092010-12-12T12:54:00.000-08:002010-12-12T13:58:45.859-08:00The Weekly One: Bloch ElastoRibThe Problem: Many dancers, especially those en pointe, suffer from strained ankles/tendons or tendonitis. This often happens because the ribbons restrict the ankles and doesn't allow for fluid movement.

The Solution: Bloch Elastorib Ribbon is the perfect solution, because it connects elastic and ribbon so that there is less pressure on the Achilles tendon and helps prevent injury. Let me tell you, it was crazy different from ballet! None of the steps had names, the teacher would just demonstrate an 8-count of any combo and we'd do it! The class proceeded like this the entire time until we had a full routine! It was pretty cool,and so different! A lot of times, theteacher would just say, "make up your own step here," or "do whichever arms you like!" which was fun.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 143px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmjsN-eBb64dCptsP5_3Qo25FF95qmKKz93yJZMwULdHT_I-rNDOGD3S6GK_7FykAJmrXosxSPbmmUptHbH9kjump8e8whHjD3qVS90jbhdCyP76gN5pKQ56SyNI3OQ9qeRMlh2tIxxmc/s200/hip-hop%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549812082541199826" />

However, as fun as it was, I am still a bunny bunhead :P.

We also did a LOT of crunches, which is why my abdominals are so sore today :(. I am so scared, yet so excited. My teacher told me I could go en pointe. (Only at the barre for now, to keep it slow & safe). So today, I am here to talk about my very first toe shoes.

So, about 2 months ago I was told I could go en pointe by one teacher, but another said not yet (as you know from my last post). But before the other said not yet, I bought the pointe shoes thinking I would need them. Well, I had to stash them for while :'( but now they are ready for use again!

I have Grishko 2007s. My friend told me where the Grishko store was and said they were great, so I decided to check it out. I went there, and a nice man came to greet me and told me he'd be fitting my pointe shoes today. He studied my feet for a long time. Then, he went into a little cubby whole whith tons of shoes. He came out with shoe after shoe, none of them fitting quite right. Then, he went in one last time, and came out with the perfect pair. The heel hugged, but didn't squeeze, my foot, my toes were pleasantly hugged as well, but not squashed or pressed. When fitting the box: you shouldn't be able to move your toes at all but they shouldn't overlap or hurt. There was even a little barre in the room, for me to test them out. He had me releves and they were so comfy! That's right, the pointe shoes were COMFY! I was shocked and thrilled. Everyone had told me they were the most excruciatingly painful things, but they really weren't! (Let's see what I say after my first pointe class!:P) In the end I had a medium vamp, length 6, width 5X, and a soft shank.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE-UgKXD-fmyEiU2Jtba2LE0YQAJxY6AQXb8RYCqSH_40qb5vG_iTTREPNHWuQF4tbUdKwOmhw-ghp47aBanbnUEcb9pzpwm_64gXVllb2xWrAYP5_NVXagJLCpIgJ4qajU7BGkqPxxL8/s200/2007IMAGE%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549804927975520242" />
Grishko 2007s

I also got toe pads, of course. Just simple, thin, Ouch Pouch Jrs. They seemed to do the trick. I found that my feet werent able to breathe in the pure rubber/gelly ones. I prefer Ouch Pouches because they are a tiny bit soft/squishy like the rubber ones, but are more breathable like cloth. Plain cloth isn't quite enough yet for me.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 171px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH7nKLw7kzgRpwAJk1u7821jg__JUyEBZfBXyjAVPoYxMVXFh1k3pAml_ep7hUm9ntOUOQQmW2_PSCrMlGmiqXVdOd0I2sME3X_tAXmSptO2BIds0TnTT31FYi5hWuMb1tR1z04z7tStQ/s200/Ouch-Pouch-JR_07%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549805523258220402" />
The Ouch Pouch Jr.

What brand were your first pointe shoes?

If you don't have them yet, what brand do you think you'd like?

Any comments/advice about pointe is welcome!!!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-48842636814113516662010-12-09T04:07:00.000-08:002010-12-09T18:58:38.366-08:00Back to Blogging!!!!So I sit here in my chair, at oh, around 6-something in the morning. I am ready for school, soon to be leaving. But I had to write. It's so hard to find time now, but I believe finding time may be slightly easier now that I have my own computer. SO much has happened since my last blog! And I want to share it with you! (Even if I have to finish this later).

There are many aspects of my current dance life that I am going to tell you about.

AUDITIONS
So far, I've had 4 auditions in the past 2 months. What have I been auditioning for? Well, I have been auditioning for dance schools. No, not part-time places where I can take classes. Full-on dance schools. (They are mostly public, they also do academics). I am super excited! I have one more in January! I am also thinking of auditioning for the School of American Ballet in September, but that’s a whole other story and a long way away. Plus, auditions for summer intensives are coming up in February!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 131px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0YxQTUEMga5CUh16QGTsi3OX7FU8_uUJ4jZreVapqnpQkZPMobNMWYgwlQ44VUYvJ0FdESvoW-j3Wexcng25puBy8bxAFHu4iAFymVC02iLIs7HTSz0vyAV92y52yNNSi2FGm0HL3o8Q/s200/large_ballet%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548879672505125938" />

CLASSES
I am currently at the school I said I’d be auditioning for. It wasn’t a real “audition” because it was more of a placement. I got placed in level 3. (There are Foundations A, Foundations B, Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Jr. Trainee and Trainee). I am OK with my level, considering I started ballet so late. I used to take ballet 3 times per week, jazz once, and pointe once (I’ll go into this in more detail). Now, I take ballet 6 days a week! It’s awesome! I like the place I’m at, but I am auditioning for another one just to see how I’d be placed.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5XY-CQZTpvk1Cdmu7-SYLSXru9hCscfvRuZCR-YtYcpjC-PEtIgvJu15xsQASN_OQSLANLvjfv1SVICzkq4O3oyLgNlIhJ5EsC-t2I4LQ5m0Hl0TS1Q0DWHbKYuPpT1YMF8bZczPDgEQ/s200/studio-11%255B1%255D.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548878561387392610" />

POINTE
So, at my old studio I was told I would be doing pointe work (at least at the barre) in September. But by the time September rolled around, I was at a new, very strict studio. They told me I should do pre-pointe instead. So I’ve been doing that for a couple months. Then, today, something amazing happened. Something that made me cry tears of joy. I asked my pointe (who at the time had been pre-pointe, which is where you do it in soft slippers on demi-pointe)teacher, who had been telling me I should do pointe, if I should bring my shoes next week. The reason I hadn't brought them before becase the director wouldn't let me. But today, my pointe teacher said that she said I (and the people in my level who did pre-pointe) could go on, but only at the barre. I'm PSYCHED!!!!! I can't believe it. Pointe! I am in awe. This time next week, I shall come home, removing my pointe shoes, with aching feet, and a glorious happy heart. This is a pic of me in my new pointe shoes:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ2t99fctDhw4VaBs9WS-5JJABubEGkTZzrpap6-3FTr_FZICxOsCMlMn1MeGf6v8HQuGBAE5Be-jl3HgUvm_kmzxuEMRsWQLHhZXhSNHO1ULqD2-yrJoh-_nsSw2LQab_WgYKKjoE4t0/s200/PointeCoupe.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548877364168183330" />

Well, that's all for now, butI promise I'll be back this weekend! Can't wait to hear from you guys!!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-88225850553446238812010-09-05T06:34:00.000-07:002010-09-05T07:04:55.975-07:00Getting ready for FallOK so before I post let me just say I'm so sorry I've been so slow with posting!! This will explain it. Also, I'm having issues with loading images again. It just isn't working! Hopefully you'll still like the post :)

Fall means a lot of things to your average person. Crunchy leaves beneath your feet, school, work, and just generally getting back into the swing of things.

But for us dancers, it means loads more!! It means new rehearsals, new classes, maybe a new level if you're in a graded training program, etc etc. This can add stress, but it also adds excitement. For me, and probably many others, it means AUDITIONS!!!! AHH!!!!

Do you remember my very first post, where I said I'd be auditioning to get into the Graded Program at this really prestigious school waaaaay in the future??!? WELL, that's now just one week away!!!! AHHH!!! In fact, less than a week because it's next Saturday. I've cramming in as many classes as possible so as t prepare. I'm really worried these people will be more advanced than me. I've only been doing it for about a year! How can I compete?? I need something to boost my confidence :/

So here's what to do to prepare for an audition:

~ Take as many classes as you can beforehand. Knowledge is power!

~ Make sure to keep stretching. You have enough to worry about without worrying about flexibility!

~ Know what you're auditioning for. Try and be as prepared as possible. Less surprises = Less stress.

So yeah, the audition stuff (and the fact that school starts in just a few days) has kept me suuuuuper busy and it's been difficult to get a moment to post. Plus, my laptop broke so I either have to use the computer at the library, like now, or my parents' when they let me.

Alrighty!

<3 Besos! <3ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-59552525689183983772010-08-16T20:43:00.000-07:002010-08-16T21:10:16.995-07:00I WANT A BUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!*Deep breaths, deep breaths*.

So the other day, I was watching Michelle Phan (yes, the make-up lady on YouTube) and in the midst of her video, out popped her bunny. So, it has a been a LONG 2 weeks. Camp has been crazy, and I've definitely gained a lot from it. On top of that, I've also learned some tap along the way!

(pic)

Unfortunately, two slightly sad events have occurred over this past week. ( I'll give you a description of the past 5 days of camp (sadly I still could not get a hold of my camera charger! URG!! I'll have to get some friends to a send me their pics). You'll have to read the descriptions to find out what the sad events were :(.

(pic)

MONDAY

We had ballet, which was good but hard, as well as jazz (we learned an awesome jazz number) and contemporary.

TUESDAY

The good news is I finally got my left leg splits!! Eeeek!! (Before I could only do right leg). Although it's just barely and it still huts insanely... but with time and stretching I am confident I will become comfortable in it.

(pic)

WEDNESDAY

Lots of ballet on Wednesday which was awesome!

THURSDAY

I wasn't feeling too well, but you know us dancers, always trying to get up and dance anyway... maybe that wasn't such a good idea. So the first bit of sad news is that I asked my teacher if I'd be able to go on pointe (since it was Thursday and she said maybe as soon as camp was over) but she said no... :'( I guess it's not that sad as it will happen one day... but I really thought I had what it took. She said my feet and ankles were probably strong enough but I needed to "polish my technique". She's probably right, and I know a true dancer needs to be able to take moments like these. But anyway, as I said in my very first post, I'm probably switching schools in the fall anyway and things will change.

(pic)

FRIDAY

The second bad/sad event was I think I really overdid it and just got sick from overuse, especially since on top of camp I had classes. So I had to miss today (Friday) which was going to be the presentation! :'( :'(

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you're having a great summer!

How did your dance intensive go? (If you went to one)

Are you on pointe? What does it take, and what advice would you give to someone dying to get on it?

P.S. I know it just says (pic) right now where there are supposed to be pictures, the photo thing on my computer isn't working I'll g back and edit in pictures on another computer soon.ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-149442857568741907.post-33778283196849351092010-07-20T13:14:00.000-07:002010-07-20T13:19:52.125-07:00Bad News about the D.I. Diaries!!Hi guys!!!! So listen, I am about to confess something and I feel TERRIBLE. But don't worry, I will make up for it!!!!

The truth is... it turns out... I'm not superwoman. I am utterly exhausted. And tomorrow I'm going to be in the dance studio from 10 am to 8 pm. Or maybe just till 5:30, depending. But either way, that's a lot to withstand and I am dying from heat and exhaustion here.

Soo... I don't think I'll be able to do a post everyday. I sincerely wish I could but it's just not realistic considering I also have a part-time job on top of dance these 2 weeks, so I think we'll have to put the Dance Intensive Diaries on a hault.

HOWEVER, at the end of each week, I will do an extremely detailed/descriptive piece chock-full of tips, advice, descriptions, pics and tons more, so I'm not totally flaking on you! It will have each day listed and describe them in short paragraphs too. Enjoy!

Again, so sorry! Please forgive me!ChaChahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07926787361251335420noreply@blogger.com0
